We couldn’t have talked about our favourite book towns without started by our own! Wigtown is in the southwest of Scotland and was appointed Scotland’s National book town in 1997 and life began to flourish again as many book lovers and book sellers decided to settled there.
This book town is even more special thanks to its community and its obvious love for written words. Since 1998, not only does Wigtown hosts a Festival between September and October, but also has an annual Spring Weekend in May and a Community Festival in July. And last for not least, from Easter to September you can organise a Saturday trip there and enjoy a lovely market.
Regarding the books you will find there, they range from new to second hand and they have it all from Crime, Horror, History, Mythology to Fantasy, Science Fiction, Archaeology, Children’s and more.
