Scotland’s crime novelists have created some of the most beloved characters in literature history – Inspector Rebus, Laidlaw, PC Murdoch.

Soon, another detective is set to join their ranks.

DI Alok Patel takes the helm of an investigation into the brutal murder of an Asian woman in this eagerly-awaited thriller. As Glasgow’s first Asian DI, Patel faces prejudice from his colleagues and suspicion from the Asian community as he struggles with the pressure of his rank, relationships, and racism.

This murder-mystery explores not just the hate that lurks in the darkest corners of Glasgow, but the hate which exists in the very streets we walk. The tensions within Glasgow’s Asian communities and between diverse groups in the city bubble and blister.
