It’s more often than not that the human mind becomes restless. Sometimes we spend countless hours thinking and planning to the point where we exhausts our brains, then shut off briefly hoping to regain new perspectives.

Creative industries are based on generating exquisite and innovative content on regular basis, be it writing, publishing, editing, designing or content creation in general. Therefore, it is requisite to find inspiration to create, and with the development of digital media, it has become both easy and bewildering to produce something new. Yet, the world is full of inspirational elements, so here a list of motivating incentives for when the mind shuts off.

The clock is ticking, and the world is spinning, and we simply do not have time anymore to think so small.

  • Books

It may sound as a cliché, but there’s nothing like reading through writers’ ideas to stimulate your own. Books offer a versatile world full of imagination, complexity, and wonder. Exploring different genres and searching for latent meanings between titles and lines is what one would need in a moment of a missing creativity. It’s a brilliant place to find the motivation behind human thoughts and actions. It does not necessarily need to inspire but a book can very well intrigue a faded curiosity, and that in its own is the start of a productive path.

  • Podcasts

Podcasts are the easiest way to get to know to new viewpoints, whether sitting on your desk sipping your morning coffee, inside your car, or while you are in the middle of your workout session. You can easily turn on your speaker or pop in your earphones, scroll through your favourite podcasts, and welcome the warmth of possible inspirations and daily affirmations. They offer this tangible content as most podcast creators share their quotidian moments and resolutions. This is an audible constructive content presented to you only a click away.

  • YouTube

YouTube is the go-to platform when you are in the search for muses. Talented content creators offer a variety of advice and stories, particularly regarding artistic industries. They present ideas, tips and valuable reviews about what goes into the creation of something new, such as books. A platform that helps to gain visual and audible experience and may in the fraction of the moment be able to fuel your innovative mind into functioning again.

It is not easy to find inspiration frequently, but it’s not impossible, as everywhere we turn lies an element of marvel. It does not come with force nor it is a constant necessity, but it is a welcome trait. The world is full of talent and amazement, and we just need to find or polish our own for the possibility of creating a fundamental place for our thoughts to grow. As Elizabeth Gilbert put it, “the clock is ticking, and the world is spinning, and we simply do not have time anymore to think so small”. From her book, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear.
