Due to unexpected scheduling difficulties and conflicting authors’ commitments, the planned opening event of the  Blooming Ringwood 2022 Festival, On Modern Relationships,  due on 30th March on Zoom has had to be deferred for now. Details of the rearranged event will appear here once they have been decided.

This means the opening event of Blooming Ringwood 2022 will now be the in-person Launch of Those Tyrannising Landlords by Sean Damer.

This fascinating book is a ground-breaking story of a first generation Irish Catholic family, the O’Donnells from County Donegal, as they struggle to integrate into Glasgow life in the face of hostility from many quarters, against a backcloth of social, political and economic turmoil in what became known as Red Clydeside.

It will be of great interest to everyone with Scottish Irish roots, whatever generation, and to everyone interested in Scottish and Irish social and political history, as well as lovers of a great story well told.

Its unique nature is best illustrated in the following quote

“Given the large-scale migration of impoverished Irish Catholic people to Glasgow between the Great Famine and World War 1, the absence of a novel telling the story of such an immigrant family is striking. Seán Damer’s Those Tyrannising Landlords is a highly original and well-researched historical novel which plugs that gap with striking authenticity. It will be quickly seen as a classic.”
Rob McInroy, Novelist.

The Launch will be held in the Oran Mor, Byres Road, Glasgow  from 6.30pm on Wednesday 13th April in what is bound to be a highly entertaining and informative event, with plenty of tough discussion, intense argument  and great craic.

Admission is Free, no ticket required and all are welcome. So please come, and bring any family, friends and colleagues who might be interested in the subject matter and animated discussion.

While the book will be on sale on the night, attendance at the Launch will be enhanced by the  opportunity to have a look at the book beforehand. The only guaranteed way to get a copy, signed by the author, before the event is to purchase it now from the Forthcoming Titles section of this website (https://www.ringwoodpublishing.com/product-category/forthcoming-woocommerce/)

For those unable to attend the Launch in person, the event will be streamed live on the Ringwood Facebook page where we will also be taking questions for the event.
