As Toni Morrison tells us, there are stories in each and every one of us, meaning that there are countless stories yet to be told; countless voices yet to be heard — not least those belonging to the marginalised communities of society.

Leela Soma, who was one of our authors here at Ringwood, was a passionate advocate for the recognition of the work of writers of colour in Scotland. To honour her as well as her legacy, Ringwood is proud to have created the Leela Soma Prize, which seeks to create a space for and award the work of writers of colour.

We warmly encourage all writers of colour with a connection to Scotland to submit your short stories to us — we at Ringwood can’t wait to read them.
