The clock is ticking … we are approaching the submission deadline for this year’s Ringwood Short Story Competition! Send us your amazing stories through email at by December 1st 2023.

As usual, we are awarding the winning writer a prize of £100 and publication on our website; up to two runners-up will also receive acknowledgement and publication on the website.

To add to this excitement, in addition to the main prize, Ringwood is bringing forth two new prizes this year:

1. The Leela Soma Prize of £50 which will go to a writer of colour;

2. The Grant Muir Prize of £50 which will go to an existing or previous Ringwood Intern, staff or author.

Please note that entrants for the Leela Soma Prize will also be eligible for the £100 main prize, however, entrants for the Grant Muir Prize will not be eligible for this main prize for reasons of perceived fairness. Anyone looking to be considered for either the Leela Soma Prize or the Grant Muir Prize should indicate their eligibility and interest in their submission cover letter.
